Hi could someone please give me some advice?

My tower computer keeps switching itself off. It doesn't do it when its running in safe mode. It used to do it sometimes when it was booting up but now it is doing it every time it has booted up completely after a couple of seconds.

Any help would be great, many thanks

Problem sounds like a power supply issue, check All power supply connections to the motherboard, also check wall outlet for proper voltage with a digital volt meter. If you have another known good working power supply swap it out with the one installed in your system to see if you can boot normally.

Thanks for your reply knightdog56, I will swap it and see if that solves the problem.

Hi

I am still having a few problems, it would be great if you could help me out.

I have changed the psu, I am now getting 5 beeps then it either turns off or tries to reboot and then beeps continuously.

I have a Geforce 6100sm-m motherboard and AMD ATHLON 64 X2 DUAL-CORE 2.6GHz processor. Does this mean that it might be a problem with my processor?

Many thanks

Check all your BIOS settings to make sure they are correct, also are you using onboard video or do you have a video card installed? If you have a video card installed make sure it is enabled in the BIOS and the onboard video is disabled. Might have to reseat the memory and CPU, but be very careful of electrial static discharge.

I have tried running it with just the cpu,fan and psu connected to the motherboard and I am still getting 5 beeps. I have checked the cpu and it is seated correctly.
I cant actually get to the BIOS because it doesn't boot up enough to allow me to get to it.

Check to make sure the CPU power connector is secured and locked on the motherboard, you said you swapped out the power supply, was it a new one or was it from another working computer?
