Server 2012 RDP auto disconnect

Hello,

I have a server running windows server 2012 that is used as out terminal server. I have on average 3 to 6 people RDP to the server. Most of them just close out the RDP session without logging off. Is there any way to set a time limit so once the RDP session is idle it will automatically disconnect and log off that user?

There are two ways to control this setting via Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration, or via Group Policy. Both are covered here in this TechNet article. The location for the settings in Group Policy are under either User Configuration or Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits.

I would like to do it via the remote desktop session hot configuration. But I am unable to find the setting. I did read about using GP to control the timeout limits, but I was hoping to use that as a last resort.

In Server 2012, the settings are controlled via the properties of the Collection, you can see where they are accessed outlined here in this blog article.

They are found under the Session category here:

I Checked out the tech note, sorry for not doing that earlier, but that applies to server 2008r2 I am running server 2012 and in my remote desktop services folder are just an RD licensing Diagnoser and remote desktop licensing manager.
