Which bootable CD are you using?
Assuming it's a Windows install CD, try repeatedly pressing a key on the keyboard (space bar) after you press the power button, but before windows loads.
Windows CDs prompt with: "Press any key to boot from the CDROM" but you might not be on the screen long enough to catch.
