Does my brother live to far away to play ps4 online?

My brother and I both have a ps4 and want to play nba together. He is in the army and lives in Hawaii and I live in missouri. We have been trying to play a match and slightly into the match the server drops the game. Is it the distance between the two of us, and if so can we fix it? We both have good internet connections.

as your on ps4 you cant exactly log on to a server in cali so your gonna be reliant on which ever of you has the best connection.
your probably looking at 250-300 ping which isnt great for fast paced online. preferably you want to have 150 or less.
there is a way to get round it by having a 3rd player sitting between you that you can both connect to. but if thats not possible then your stuck with what you have.
this is the 1 big failing of the consoles. no ability to have server hosted games.
