How Do I Delete Old Drivers From Fresh Install?

Ok, so currently I have a little micro-ATX Gigabyte motherboard, and I'm upgrading to an Asus ATX mobo while also upgrading my processor. Now, I'm not sure how to go about reinstalling Windows and getting all my old files back on the fresh install. Do I use the Windows backup feature to create a backup "disc" on my portable drive? Can I create a system image? And if I do one of those two and put them on top of the fresh install, how do I go about installing the new drivers for my CPU and mobo if the old drivers from the previous components are still on the system? The reason I'm asking is because I have programs and other stuff saved that I'd really rather not dig for to put them individually on the portable drive. Any ideas? If you guys have a better way I can go about accomplishing what I want I'd love to hear them as well! Thanks in advance!

1. easiest way is to backup everything to your portable drive then proceed with a fresh install and new drivers of course.

2. you can create a partition for the fresh install and when you done transfer files over to new partition and delete old partition.

But, like I said, won't the new drivers mess up because I still have the old drivers on the backup that I put on the fresh install? That's the crux I'm on right now.
