Hello, yesterday I received a new PowerColor R9 280x GPU with a Antec High Current Gamer 850W 24PIN ATX12V V2.3 Active PFC 80 Plus Bronze Modular Power Supply.

I tried everything, but when I install the card, and link it to the monitor, I don't get a signal.

Some things I should state to save time:
I previously has a ATI Radeon HD 6570 installed, I removed it and uninstalled the drivers. When I connect that to the motherboard, it works as intended. So it must not be a problem with PCI-E.
-I tried both HDMI and DVI outputs from the card.
-When theres nothing present in the PCI-E slot, the computer works fine with it's integrated graphics.
-I tried to reseat the card....multiple times...like a lot.
-I uninstalled all the drivers from my old card, no success.
-When I have the card in the PCI-E, and there is no power going to the card, the computer switches to integrated graphics just fine. As soon as power is applied, and both GPU fans are spinning, no signal is detected.

That's about it I think, if I can think of anything else I'll let you know.

Specs:
Windows 7 64bit
6gb ram
Intel i5 processor

Thanks for your guys help. I normally try to figure this stuff out, but I'm at the point of just giving up, and I don't want to end up returning the card.

Dumb question, but I've done things like it before and it's not uncommon...

You have the monitor plugged into the graphics card, right? :p

Thanks you solved it silly me! Kidding, haha yeah it was plugged into the monitor, both DVI and HDMI. Also had power coming from the PSU to the card.

Have you tried plugging into the on-board graphics to see if you get a signal there. If so, you should be able to get into the bios and set primary graphics to the new card, or even disable the on-board graphics, and then use the new card for your main monitor.

I can get it to work with onboard graphics, and it also works with my old card, the 6570. I couldn't find anything in the bios about onboard graphics.

What motherboard do you have?

I'm having a similar issue. My new EVGA 660 isn't displaying a signal either and it is receiving power. My motherboard doesn't have onboard graphics so I'm screwed till I fix this. I'm not sure how to fix this :/

oooo... HP. They lock down the bios on those really bad. I don't even know if it will allow disabling the integrated video. That makes things difficult.

try this: Hook up the video to the integrated video and boot into Windows. Load the driver for the new card. Connect the monitor to the new card and reboot. (you won't see the POST displays, but you should get video once Windows loads up.)

Alright, was just going to try that. Only thing I haven't yet. Also, I managed to finally find the BIOS setting for the integrated gfx. It was set to off.

Then it looks like you have a bad card. When you contact support for the replacement, or when you contact your reseller, you might want to include a link to this thread to save you time in explaining what all you tried to troubleshoot.

Alright, shame I have to return it, but was going to anyway. Just wanted to give it another shot.

Thanks for your help, and are bad cards common?

No, not any more than any other type of component. I've seen as many bad video cards as I have bad motherboards, which is to say about half a dozen in over 20 years.
