I recently ordered the parts for my first build. It included the XFX P1-550S-XXB9 PSU an FX8350, Gigabyte R9 270X and Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard. I know the PSU is decent but i just want to be sure that it will be good enough as i don't want to mess anything up! Thanks for your help!

Yep, can happen; probably never with this unit. If you are seriously considering Crossfire in the near future, then consider installing the more powerful PSU now. XFX is made by Seasonic, one of the best manufactures in the world, so one of their more powerful units would work well. You won't need to change motherboards the run Crossfire as it is supported by that board.

Yes, it should be enough. Im running a similar setup in which i have a fx 6350 which like the 8350 puts out 125w. Also im using a radeon 7870 which is almost exactly like a 270x. I've got a 500w power supply and it'd running with no problems.

Yes that will work just fine.
AMD/Radeon recommend a minimum psu of 500Watts (for the entire system) with a minimum of 24amps on the 12V rail with TWO 6 pin PCI-E connectors.
It is the current (amps) on the 12V rail that is the most important requirement for today's systems
The XFX 550 has two PCI-E 6 pin connectors and is rated at 44 amps and has sufficient current to power your system with a Single R9-270X.

That's good to hear, so it'll cope fine on games like BF4?
If i upgrade to a another R9 270X (running in crossfire) then I'll probably upgrade to a 700W PSU buy a knew motherboard. But I've heard of exploding power supply's and damaged parts when a PSU is in-sufficient.
