Be warned, it might have bad response times (aka bad motion blurring).
The VN247H definitely has bad response times as noted here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1776454

Note: keep in mind the response time numbers on boxes are flat out lies; the only way to know true response times is proper testing like xbitlabs does. For example: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/monitors/display/samsu...

Have you considered an IPS instead for same price?

or a good MVA panel that people say works well in games:
Samsung S27A650D: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=2...

I would suggest the HP 22xi if your ok with a 21.5-inch display @ 1080p. I have this monitor, and I'm confident it's even better than the ASUS ones you listed. I can attest to this, as my friend have an ASUS VX239H (similar to the ones you listed, but a bit newer I think, as it was released just last Sept-Oct). The monitor's (HP 22xi) rated at 7ms, but I never experienced any ghosting whatsoever. The display looks crisper, and sharper, thanks to the tighter pixel density. But it depends, really, if you're ok with a smaller screen. 23 or 24-inches is the standard, but I went for the 22xi because I'd rather have a sharper image. Also, the 22xi is also a glossy-type of display. If that's not your thing, avoid this display.

Well here are some problems in that monitor, the response timing is 7ms! over 5ms is noticeable and glossy screen look really cool but arent good because light reflects on them and their annoying! but the monitor looks sick! I really like the glossy screen in looks and the monitor as well, you seem to have a nice choice

I've played NFS (a very fast racing game) on both 5 and 7ms monitors, and believe me, I haven't noticed any ghosting for both. Yes, the glossy screen may not appeal to all. I suggest getting a glossy screen if you're going to place it in a low light environment (like in my case). Glossy screens are not advisable if you are using a strong fluorescent white light behind or directly above the display.

Oh, sorry about that; I didn't really mean that you should buy that particular model... I just wanted to you show you what proper monitor testing really looks like. :)  Hardly any places seem to make an effort to review monitors correctly.

Considering the lack of any good review sites, the alternative solutions to finding a good monitor are not ideal. Here's what I might suggest.
1. Find a model that is 8m or lower (keeping in mind this number is a lie usually).
2. Read reviews from actual people who have tried out the monitor on places like newegg.com and hardocp.com Focus on when people mention games, blurring, ghosting, lag, etc.... If you can't find reviews on a monitor, then don't consider buying it (too risky).
3. Alternatively, try to find review sites that check gaming performance. Sadly, almost all review sites do a horribly job checking response times. Most just show a single picture, or say "it seems ok for gaming" as opposed to to doing a detailed test of response times.
4. Ideally, you can pick one that you can test in a store yourself.
5. Also, you can hope that someone here has tried out the exact models you are interested in -- so keep listing some other models you might want... or maybe start a new thread asking about a specific model if you feel this one is getting too off-topic.
Unfortunately, this is the only good solutions we have right now when buying a monitor. :(

Let me stress again that the numbers on the box are an outright lie! You have no way of knowing if the monitor is 7ms, 1ms, or 20ms no matter what the box says! It is really that bad. For absolute proof of this, look at this monitor review:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/monitors/display/zalma...
Do you see how most of the response times are around 20ms!? However, the monitor claims a response time of 5ms on the box!
How does it achieve this lie? Simple: take a look at the first row on that review. Notice how just a few response times are below 1ms. The LCD companies list the the response time from this very small area and totally ignore how 90% of the time the monitor is a very bad 20ms.
