Newly built system, used parts, I get lights, fans, but no sounds.

My system
Motherboard: MSI MS-7380
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
GPU: GT240
RAM: 2GB DDR2 PC26400
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda, 3TB Seagate Barracuda
PSU: SPI ATX-400PN-B204 400W

The PSU was tested on a different setup and worked perfectly, the drives were pulled from my old working system. The CPU and GPU were pulled from a friends working system, though it hadn't been run in a few months so not sure about those.

I pulled out the RAM to see if I could get some sort of memory error beep from the motherboard, but no sound was heard. My current theory is a bad motherboard. Any help in addressing this issue would be appreciated.

So, the lights and fans are working but, you don't have any sounds?
If so, the motherboard is fine and the problem most likely comes from incorrect wiring.

Make sure you've plugged the small 1 pin cables used to connect the start, reset button, usb port and audio correctly.

If connected up properly the motherboard should post, and there should be some audio from it. The motherboard may indeed be bad.

I checked them, they look correct, I switched around the power switch and reset switch just for shits and giggles, still no post.

I tried flipping the pins a few times and still no post, but the fans and lights continue to work.

Just to double check. OP do you have the Speaker plugged into your mobo for the post sound?

I do, not sure if it's been plugged in correctly so I have been testing everything twice and flipping the speaker around.

since this is a socket 775 board we do these test remove the 3 tb drive and one stick of memory then test for post .

try the battery cmos reset and if system do not post time for upgrade on a new motherboard .

battery cmos reset is taking removing the small silver battery from the board correct? Do I have to do anything else, or just remove the battery?

do this power off and ac unplug from wall remove her for 1 minutes and put her back the replug the ac and start to see if it will boot that restore bios to default .
