Is it possible that a socket 755 will fit on a socket 1150? I am looking at this motherboard " http://www.microcenter.com/product/414773/GA-Z87X-UD4H_Socket_LGA_1150_ATX_Intel_Motherboard" And it shows supported CPU's as Core i7, Core i5, Core i3, Celeron and Pentium. I have a core 2 quad q6700 cpu currently.

Solution
No. it will not take an LGA 775 cpu.

It can only take an LGA 1150 cpu.

You have to stick with LGA 775 boards. So much has changed such as the memory and pci-e controller being moved into the cpu making such a swap not work even if the cpu could be fit.

Solution
Absolutely not, the Pentium listed for the Gigabyte board you listed is a 1150 model and the only thing it has in common with the 775 Pentium model you have is the name. If it's like the 1155 Pentium version it is a actually a neutered i3 model.

Good rule of thumb never try to mix your sockets 775 CPUs only go in 775 motherboards, 1150 CPUs only in 1150 Motherboards...

To get a hold of LGA 775 boards, now you may have to check out auction sites.

Please take care when picking a board because some older LGA 775 boards did not work with core 2 cpus because they power system needed a redesign for Core 2 and newer. Those will be older Pentium 4 boards for the most part.
