I don't want to go for a gpu that is practically made for more than just 1080p/60fps, I want to save a couple of bucks maybe 30$, i'm going to be OC-ing it and I expect it to handle upcoming games coming this year at 1080/60fps and preferably matches my color scheme (Black/Red). I'm looking at the pny 770 and the asus r9 280x, I know they're both good gpus for my description but I want to see if I can find some a bit cheaper with some small performance differences and can handle 1080p/60fps for the upcoming year. budget is under 320. if there isn't really any than I figure it'll be alright.

the 270x basically works as well as a 7950 and i can verify that it will play battle field 4 on ultra settings at at 40 to 70 fps depending on the map this is online not the actual game .. If my 1090t can get 60fps with one gigabyte windforce 270x then i know that build will just saying now for titles that prefer invidia that might be a different story but i have yet to find anything in my libary of over 70 games that i cant play on ultra including skyrim or crysis 2 or 1 @ 1080p ... now if you wanted to spend extra money i would throw it at a 290 but those are impossible to find right now. it will be months before things get back to normal i bet.

The GTX 770 is your best bet for 1080p gaming.
May I prefer the MSI N770 Lightning
or if you live in the UK get the Ino3d GTX 770 which is better.
The Galaxy GTX 770 HOF is fabulous aswell.

People would say the R9 280X is better but I assure it is not. Hundreds of benchmarks state the GTX 770 is better by roughly 7+ FPS.
Trust me this is the best investment you wanna make for future gaming.

The GTX 780 and R9 290 would be a waste of money for 1080p gaming.

I notice you put PNY GTX 770... are they any other options for the GTX 770?

Do not get the ASUS R9 280X, the Direct CU ii only performes exceptionally at idle, when under load it is just 6C better than the reference card.

You're best option is the GTX 760, preferably the MSI N760 Hawk

I would say EVGA however MSI are of better quality and really put detail into their cards, EVGA does well too however not to the extent of MSI's quality, though EVGA's support is amazing compared to MSI's which is just okay. Gigabyte and Sapphire are great too however I prefer MSI. I just wish newegg sold the Galaxy GTX 770 HoF and the ino3d gtx 770.. that'd be awesome

i would not get the 760. The 770 is going to be the best bet as the 760 gets the job done now (barely) it probably wont for next gen games. The 770 is going to be your best bet. I would wait for the prices to come back down though right now all the cards are a bit high. Get whatever you want but i'd do the 770 just for the performance increase on the 760.

Its struggling to get into the 50 fps which it is unable to do in several games. Look at the benchmarks. The 770 performs very well compared to the 760.

yea.. I clearly stated this to him before, atleast read the other posts made so your not accounted for repetetion. He said it's out of his budget so the 760 is his only option. I would suggest the R9 280x if he couldn't afford the 770 however the 280X price has risen to roughly $420 when it was $300 before

yea but PNY a good brand? well-known? good? I think not, there's a reason why it's so cheap. Always! find out why the product your buying is so cheap compared to it's reference prices

They wouldnt be my first choice no but i've never heard of one failing prematurely and wel known? Yes anyone who pays attention has heard of them. For what he is wanting to get performance wise the 760 is a terrible choice. I advise saving up a little bit more and catching a good 770 on sale.

Those are barely a few dollars more.

pny is well known...its slight older than msi and asus...it's cooler is not that good so no overclocking headroom but pny is a high quality brand...they just don't sponsor gaming events but it doesn't mean they have low quality products..

fair enough but like you said, their cooler isn't that good.

Azzazel is right though, any of those three 770s would be better than to get the 760

well look at it this way. 270x now @ around 200 dollars and 6 months down the road add a second at around 175 because you know invidia wont sit on its ass for long. your looking at 290x performance for about 375 dollars.

As for the 270x I was a bit premature in my statement upper 40's is the lowest and peaks in the 80's. according to Rapter i get an average of 54 Fps but that accounts for how ever long a multi player map is. not to mention with an intel build I'm sure your going to be above that.

is it better than the twin frozr what about the galaxy HOF i'm assuming they're better than the toxic r80x? I'm remodeling the build and saving it as my second just in case the prices don't go down for the original build. I like to plan things alot.
