Hi, I have just brought a pre built pc and am now being told i could have built it myself for around $500 when i paid $920 for the pre built.. i know that pre -build companys have to make their profit but surely not $420 from this?

Intel i5 4670 3.4GHz processor

Radeon HD7790 1GB

Copper/Aluminum Tower CPU Cooler w/ Fan

1TB HD

8GB RAM

550W PSU

ASUS B85M-G LGA 1150 Intel B85 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard

C01 ATX Gaming Tower Case

Windows 7 Premium 64 bit

is it true this can be built for around $550 or were they just pulling my leg? keep in mind that i live in australia so most retailers are a bit more expensive than overseas ones

thanks for a decent reply.. yeah i used AUD in my post. as i thought i havent really lost that much money buying pre built and at the most would have saved about $150 if i built it myself.. definitely cant build that for $500

There are many ways to check that, one that comes to mind is to download the passmark software and there you'll have enough info about the RAM sticks http://www.passmark.com/products/pt.htm.

Another good thing about this is to run the software and see what scores you'll get with this RAM and the RAM from your old PC and compare them.
