i7 920 with 6gb ddr3 1600 ram with 8800gtx or amd fx 6300 4gb ddr3 1333 ram (will increase to 8) with r7 260x with no oc for playing latest game at 786p

Solution
amd fx 6300 4gb ddr3 1333 ram (will increase to 8) with r7 260x

Choose that. the 8800gtx is a directx 10 card and the 260x is a directx 11 card.

And honestly, a fx6300 doesnt lose in any way to a first gen i7, the cpu is not even a factor here since its a gaming build, he is also playing games at 786p meaning he doesnt even need much, the FX6 is good enough for all current games and is easly OC'ed with a propor cooler, it also means he has a newer board, in the future if he has a good enough power supply, he can get a mid range card and play games at high settings 1080p.

I dont even doubt anymore the amd systme is better.

In my personal experience always choose Intel over AMD so I would say go for i7.

He's asking which is better and not what our personal opinions are.
The 260x graphics card is faster than the 8800GTX while consuming less power.

My friend, thank you for explaining to me what he's asking I thought I didn't understand English.

I gave him my opinion and suggestion which is based on my experience with Intel and AMD devices there is no need to be snide about it. If he gets the AMD and it crashes or degrades with time what good would the website you provided do? I'm guessing he knows how to google and compare both.

My intention was not to be snide.
My old AMD 5200+ 2.7ghz which was purchased in 2006 is still going strong after it has been passed along to a few different owners.
Also some games are now directx 11 only and in the future more will be. The 8800gtx will not play those games:)
