Hi all.

Help will be appreciated . and Thanks in advance.

My current system:

- Intel core i7 2600k @ 3.4Ghz (never Overclocked)
- MSI Z68A-GD65 (P8 Bios now)
-GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-2GD (recenlty upgraded)

My problem:

As i have recenly upgrade to gtx 770 from MSi GTX 560ti Hawk(560ti was working on pcie 2 @x16 ,N1 motherboard bios) .
At first my gtx770 didnt work with MSI z68A gd65 on N1 Bios . So i upgraded my Motherboard Bios to latest P8 (without any reading my bad :(  .)
So now i am in kind of problem .My card is in x16 slot of mobo but only working on x8 (detailed under GPU z) . any suggestion how can i make my gpu work on x16 . Please ^_^. Consider me a noob xD

that is because you pci-e works as 2 where as the gtx770 is pci-e 3.

pci-e 2.0 x16=pci-e 3.0 x8 (pci-e 3.0 has double the bandwidth of pci-e 2.0)

the only way you can get it to work as 3.0 is if you upgrade the processor to 3rd or 4th gen.

i am sure you not not having any bottleneck as such

power off the pc and drain power from the wall for safety. look in the video slot for bent pin or dirt. take a soft paper towel and some rubbing alcohol and clean the gold contacts to see if there finger oil or dirt or them. let the card dry them plug it back in. rerun the tests with the newest nvidia drivers installed. if the 8x issues still there in the bios see if your mb has options for the pci vidoe bus speed. if it set to auto try setting it to 2.0 mode and see if that changes anything. also check to see if there a card in one of the pci slots. some slots are wired together so yu may have to move a wifi or sound card.

In GPU-Z click the ? next to the bus interface(where its showing 8x), read the information then start the render test.

yes it is 2.0 supported

are you using the 1st pci-e x16 slot???

make sure you do not have any other card on any other pci-e slot, or else the speed is shared between them you you will end up getting only x8

have you ever considered gpuz is making the mistake? have you run any benchmarks to see what your graphics are doing?

yes heaven and 3d mark fire strike (something xD ) . But i am just not satisfied . just tell me that there is no difference between pcie 2 x8 and pcie 2 x16 in case of gtx 770 .not even 1% .
