I need to know your opinion on what prebuilt pc to buy either online at a local store like best buy or walmart. I need something under $400 with windows 7 or 8, decent quadcore processor, 8GB RAM, stock graphics card (I will be replacing this preferably with an AMD), and a 1TB hard drive. The pc can be a refurb or new, just as long as it is compatable with an AMD gfx and has a large enough processor.
Thanks in advance!

Honestly I just need something that will run my games. I don't need anything more than med graphics for games like league of legends, minecraft, and some steam games. I just need a decent cpu to run the games and I will later upgrade the gfx card so I can play them with better graphics. But the problem with these builds you have provided is they don't include an OS. I am okay with a windows 7 OS which costs around $90. But I'm looking more for a prebuilt unless you can build me something including an OS for under $400. If you can do that (with a crappy gfx) then awesome. Because I have a $120 gfx card that I will be upgrading once I buy my pc. I just have to choose what pc I will buy.

What GPU are you planning to get?

haha

the way you worded it was you were going to buy a system for 400 and then add a gpu later which would mean spend more than 400. what games do you play? I have no problems sending you my old 9800gtx+ to start off with till you upgrade, its an ok card that only uses 1 pice 6pin power connector. also I may have a spare key for windows 7 64 bit pro and windows 8.1 pro to help you out a little bit. you'd have to just download the dvd image and burn it to a disk and run it

The idea is that I will have a pc that will play my games after new years. As far as a gfx, I was looking at an AMD I found online at pcbuilder. Think it was on amazon.com. it was $120. But for right now all I have is $400 to buy something to get me started. In a couple months I will be able to buy the gfx I want. A free gfx card and windows OS would be greatly appreciated if you could provide it. You can PM me if you are serious about that. I'm just trying to get the best system I can to get me by until I can afford a gfx. The problem with saving until I have say... $600 to spend on a pc is that the lady of the house won't approve of me spending that kind of money on a computer. But $400 she can deal with. But yeah if you are serious about the gfx and OS send me a PM. =)

if only my gf knew what I spend on my pc, she would want a new bag every week haha.

I am serious, I will check to see if I can get the copy of windows for you, would you prefer 7 or 8? I use 8 now and like it after I restored the start menu and removed all the metro stuff.

what gpu were you looking at for 120? id say something like the 7790? I snagged a friend a 7870 ghz OC for 145- 20 with a rebate during the black friday deals. that is a serious deal for that card.

that or find a good deal on a used card, you do have no warranty like with used nvidia cards which sucks though, both my cards were used but were only a few months old and havent had a single problem knock on wood

This is completly off topic SORRY.But how do games run on windows 8? Im going shopping today and im buying an OS. I can debating wether to get 7 or 8

plays good for me, windows 8 does have a little bit better performance cpu wise vs 7

I would say just got to windows 8 and do what I did and remove the metro apps, add classic shell(program) and it will be exactly like windows 7 again.

So your able to remove the dumb tile buttons on the homepage. Or w.e their called?

EDIT: Yeah, ive also read that their is less spikes while gaming. I guess i made my choice then

yes classic shell will allow you to boot right to the desktop and disable the metro top and side screens if you want to as well, you can still switch back to the metro side if you like but I never use that stuff and I always uninstall all the metro apps

if you can find a deal on a 7850 I would buy that over the 7770, also there are 7790s for the same price of 120

But yeah if I could get a free gtx and OS to start my PC build I'm almost positive I could convince the lady to let me build a pc instead of buy. Because that right there would save me probably $200. You have no idea how awesome that'd be.
