Has anyone used a Zalman CNPS9700 with the ASUS P8Z77-V LX?

I am upgrading a few things on my computer starting with the motherboard, cpu and memory. The motherboard I am getting is the ASUS P8Z77-V LX which has an 1155 socket. I have a Zalman CNPS9700 cpu cooler that I bought in Dec. 2011 for my LGA 775 socket system. I don't have the motherboard yet so I can't play around with it myself, but I'd like to know a little better what to expect.

Has anyone used this combo before? Did it require an adapter plate? I know if you buy a Zalman CNPS9700 new right now, it's supposed to be 1155 compatible, but I'm not sure if it would have been when I bought it.
