My parts have all finally arrived (bought all for 530) and I'm ready to put them together. Before opening them, I realize that I really don't even know if the Video card I have (Asus HD 7850 1gb) will fit in the case (Rosewill Challenger-U3 ATX Mid Tower Case) and motherboard. (Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard) I mean physically fit; it is 10.5 inches long for my video card and I thought I read a thread here saying I could fit a card that is 11 inches with my build.

Is this true? I don't want to open up my parts and realize that I have the wrong card and wrong everything. Thanks for helping out a new computer builder.

Solution
Maybe go to local PC shop and look for longer standoffs for case, like first from left side on this picture. With them your GPU will perfectly fit to pcie slot.

Thanks, I just installed *almost* everything.

1. Where do I put the USB 3.0 cable that comes with the case? For the life of me I can't figure it out even with the owners manual.

2. The manual for my motherboard Asus M5 A97 LE R2.0 isn't very clear as to how I install the three tiny 2 pin cables. HD LED, System power LED, rest button. I know I have to orient the positive and negative poles, right? But the manual and the motherboard themselves don't seem very clear to me.

3. I screwed in the motherboard before installing the back cover for the USB ports, keyboard and mouse ports, and microphone jacks. Do I really need the back cover or is it more just more looks? I imagine I would get even better airflow without it. :)

Thanks for any help you could give me; little confused.

Edit: I tried to turn it on but nothing came up. Are there any computer chain stores that would make sure you did everything all right? I would be willing to pay at most 50 dollars since I pretty much did almost everything, especially the time-intensive stuff.

Crap, the video card (Asus 7850 1gb card) won't and can't fit in the PCI express slot. :(

The stupid metal part where the VGA and DVI ports are located is too short and I can only fully insert half of the video card. Would it still work if the other half is half way in? Or would I have to find a way to cut all that metal off?

1. Connect Usb 3.0 cable to your motherboard, look in instalation guide where is usb 3.0 connector on mb.

2. You can see on cables marks for + and - . You can find details in installation guide, look for something like ''Front panel header''.

3. Well, if you can live without it, I think it'll be ok. But next time when you clear PC from dust, you can put it on place.

Is it a common thing to have to cut the metal part of the card? Yes, the fanholes and the metal part of the video card are in contact and won't let me get it in any more.

But if I cut the metal part of the video card; how would I screw in the video card to stabilize it? Also, how would I cut it? Would I need to go to a woodshop or something?

Don't cut anything on your video card.
Usually you only have to push with your finger metal part on your case where vga and dvi ports from gpu need to be.
Sometimes they are secured with screws so you can put them back if you remove gpu.

I wasn't talking about cutting the actual card, but the metal part where you put in the screws to keep the card in place. It really won't fit; the metal part of my card just hits the metal fanholes of the case. :( I don't know what to do now.

Can't tell for sure without seeing it (if you can take a picture and upload it, or find picture on internet and send a link), but do you think removing motherboard and connecting gpu out of case would help? And then try to put motherboard back in place

From last pic I think this can help. The end of the PCI-E lane has a little lever to secure the graphics card, try holding down this lever while inserting the card.
If that doesn't work, try loose last 2 MB screws a bit

Unfortunately that won't fix the problem. The issue is with the physical constraints of the card and the fan holes. The only way that I can get one half of the card in (the part of the card next to the lever) is if I rock the card. This still leaves the other half of the video card outside the slot. I.E, it won't go in unless I cut some metal off.

The left side of the card won't go in, in other words.
