I'm simply curious to know that if I can replace my i3-2100 with a newer i3-4130. I saw that the i3-4130 has the same socket but it's called FC LGA 1150, so I am worried that if I buy it, it won't fit in or something. The motherboard I have is a MSI H61MU-E35 (B3)

Solution
i3-2100 is a 1155 pin cpu the newer 4130 are 1150 pins. intel removed 5 pins so that you have to buy a newer mb. if your looking for a faster cpu look at the i5 ib cpu.

1150 is not the same as what you have, yours is 1155. because of that it will not work with your current motherboard. Even if it would though, its not really much of an upgrade. An i5 (2xxx for sure, 3xxx should work with the most current bios updates) would be a better buy in your case if you want to upgrade.
