You want to avoid any known for problems, such as the cheap MSI 970A-G4x models.
If at all possible, get a 900-series chipset board. Though not normally high on my list, check out the Biostar TA9xx models. They're not listed as having problems, and tend to be inexpensive.
You really should consider upping that budget. The older chipsets won't have SATA 6 or USB3.0, or they will be provided by slower, third-party controllers rather than the chipset. They also typically (but not always) run at slower speeds than the 5200MT/s of newer boards.
