hi all,
so i have a amd a8 3850 right now with 8 gb of ram and a gtx560 2gb card. but i am looking to go back to intel and wanted advice on what to get that will boost gaming performance in a new mb and cpu. I have looked at ivybridge and haswell but just don't know which is better for my needs. I do not overclock but want the best bang for my buck. I should have between 500 and 1000 to spend but if i have 1k I also want to upgrade my shoddy case and maybe video card. also i am look only into asus mb since i have had best luck and results with them.

thank you for taking you time to read and maybe respond.

some of games i play at moment. since i am always changing it up when i find something more fun are.

tera
gw2

Well all of the CPUs mentioned so far are overclocking models, look for a CPU without the k at the end of it, the 4670 is probably your best bet. Also if you aren't going to overclock you can look at H grade mobos or Z since Z is for overclocking H might save you a little bit
You could carry over the ram. I would stay with your graphics card for now to keep cost down. Also to note the card you currently have is more then sufficient for the current games you are playing. So it could be as easy as a motherboard cpu upgrade for now and then at a later point picking a gpu. This is what I'd personally do in your case.

I just feel that you should only go for a graphics card upgrade when you feel that its not up to snub.

Also since you play MMO's a SSD would be a god send for you. A Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB would be a good sweet spot for a OS plus a game or two on the SSD. Unless you would be open for a 250 GB EVO drive in which case you could carry probably every game you listed just fine.

thanks for your replay, but what i should have been more specific about is that i am looking for mb from asus and intel cpu. but if i can afford the case upgrade i want something that may be used for future water cooling to keep noise down while gaming and that I want something that will be a bit future proof.

what i have looked at are
the i5 3570k
