Hello everyone. Im trying to upgrade my cpu and gpu because mine seems to be old/ood/dieing and/or not keeping up with some current games. My current build is this.

Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P7H55-M PRO
cpu: Intel Core i5 650 (I keep hearing this is a quad core tho i dont believe that. I think its a 2 core faux 4 w/ HT)
gpu: GeForce GTX 460

the rest Im not really all that worried about. Now Im planning on getting an i5 4670 for my cpu upgrade. and im almost certain its compatible. For the gpu I was planning on getting EVGA GeForce GTX 660 FTW Signature 2. it might just be called gtx 660 ftw I dont know i copy and pasted the name anyways Im unsure if the mobo will support the gddr5 on the gpu. If those 2 upgrades are totally fine and all than great if not pls let me know and what would you recommend.

Keep in mind im trying to get better gaming performance but not too crazy just enough to get max graphic settings without degrading performance and not be totally ood in less than like 5 years. any help is greatly appreciated!!!

also the mobo with the ddr3 and the gpu with ddr5...do they even matter...i mean is the mobo ddr3 talking about ram...i guess is my question too.

Solution
For that CPU you would need a new MOBO. i5-650 (first generation) is socket 1156 but a fourth gen 4670 is 1150. As to GDDR5, that has nothing to do with system RAM. That only interfaces directly with the GPU itself, which is on the same card. And yes, any proper gaming card (above the basic entry level cards) nowadays is GDDR5

wow that was a super fast answer. ok soyour saying the gpu is fine with the current mobo. now i dont rly wanna upgrade that too so i really just want a quad core up from this dual core. do they make i5's/7's that are quad AND fit that 1156 socket?.

Also props on the instant feedback....awesomesauce

There are such beasts, yes. Newegg no longer carries them but amazon has it in stock:

At the current prioces, the i7 is about the same cost as the i5. Neither is a great value compared to current gen parts but without replacing the mobo the i7 looks nice
