I'm having an issue flashing my bios
I've made a dos bootable flash drive and whenever i try to flash through dos i get "error: unable to obtain flash information"
I think the bios is write protected as it won't flash through the operating system either.

I don't have bios jumper pins, or a setting in the bios to disable write protection.

I haven't located the bios chip on the motherboard with certainty, but i hear you can short the write protect pins? Or is there software that can disable write protect?

contact acer for the right bios file.also check to see if the bios is at the same version 1.04a. that the one i found online. from 2011. most bios are zip and you have to uncompress them. if you have the right file try the bios updater inside the mb bios if it has one.

i've tried the p01-a3 at a more recent date and i've tried the p01-a4, they both give the same message insinuating write protection. The mb does not have any options for bios. only a password option.

I need a way to disable write protection.

I'm confused at to what you are saying here. I assume my answer is no.

when you unzipped the bios file there a help me file in pdf format. (image).
in the images they show the bios dos like as bios flasher.exe "bios file" with switxhes /p /b /c/ reboot. the switches may tell the bios flasher to flash the locked part of the bios file.

i see what you are saying, as far as i can tell in the readmes of the bios file, there isn'tan option to skip the write protect.

I can't even detect or save the current bios as the dos has problem finding flash information.

I guess ill just have to give up on this

Nope nothing. this thing is locked down pretty heavily due to a pre assembled desktop build. at the time it was too good of a deal to pass up i guess these are the problems you run into for not building it yourself
