I recently built my computer which is doing an amazing job by the way.( http://pcpartpicker.com/b/J5E for the curious)

I've read up on the topic and heard it needs to be the same series so I was wondering if a 780ti could SLI with a 760.

(I will most likely won't be doing it considering I don't need it and I'm struggling. Just curious.)

No way, You can't sli a gpu as strong as gtx 780ti to gtx 760. To sli or cf you should have two equivalent gpu's, not necessarily the same but equivalent. I tried cf'ing my gigabyte r9 280x with msi one. I knew I had to clock them to 1050 mhz to work in harmony. But in your case it's different, as they both are different gpu's.
SO I would say not to sli them. You can even cf/sli two similar gpu's like hd 7850 and 7870, but hd 7870 will underclock to work with hd 7850. So buying that would be waste of money.
So when you have enough money to buy another gtx 780ti, then consider to sli it.
