You could go the Amd route, and save quite a bit actually. And you are right, neither WoW or LoL require an expensive video card. But for a thousand dollars, OS included you can get what I listed, and if you can get a copy of Windows cheap, get what SimonGranstrom listed(i'd swap a few things on his build though).

Cheaper, could still shave some money too, but this is pretty cheap and good performance for those games.

I'd get a better case, and spend less on the Psu but still get a good one. I'm putting 137 towards those two items, and he's putting 150. Overall, I think my parts are better than his for those two items.

Well, if you want the Intel Cpu, gotta get a motherboard to match it. Could save money on that too, honestly. Get a non-"k" Cpu, then get an H series chipset motherboard like 4470 Cpu and H87 motherboard. Would save 40 or 50 dollars or so.

Deal on the Cpu ends the 20th, but you get the idea.

No you don't, but it's best to buy one while you're at this state instead of waiting in case you want to overclock in the future.

If you go with an Intel non-"k" Cpu, I probably wouldn't worry about it. It would be nice to have, but not necessary honestly.

Honestly I just built my first computer a month ago and for less than 7 or 800 dollars I got a FX 6300 (fast as any i5), asus 5450 HD silent 1GB( I know its not very good but it works fine for me on battlefield 4, world of tanks, Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Sniper Elite V2 which are the only games I play), a 60GB SanDisk SSD for OS, WD Blue 1TB Hard Drive, 8GB of Kingston RAM and Coolmax 700 watt PSU. I have Avast antivirus which is the best free antivirus out there and I got windows 7 64 bit for free (there is no need to pay for an OS and I could have got Windows 8 but don't like it). Also in that budget I have a H80i in the mail. You will hear intel people saying that this isn't a fast setup, but believe me it is and really the only thing that needs upgrading is a graphics card but this one is fine for your needs. If you feel it is necessary you can get a better graphics card for another 100 dollars. Also with the h80i I expect to comfortably get 4.1 GHZ base and a 4.5 GHZ turbo. This is one reason why I like AMD is unlike intel they try to help out the consumer and not change things like sockets and all of AMD FX series is unlocked unlike intel who already charges twice as much for the same product and then charges more for an unlocked one. I'm sure an expert will try to argue almost everything I typed but honestly this is what I have and this is the best bang for your buck. This is the link to the upgraded graphics card http://www.amazon.com/GDDR5-technology-Graphics-Cards-H...

Well, the fx6300 isn't as fast as the i5. There isn't any arguing that. It is however a much better value and does provide respectable performance for the price. Also, if you overclock the Cpu, you won't have a boost speed. You'll be running at your overclocked frequency 100% of the time.

How did you get a free MS OS without pirating?

Don't feed the troll.
No seriously, windows OS is too expensive in my opinion but that is no reason to pirate it.
And please don't mention Intel and AMD in the same answer, you will just start a war. ;)

You can find download only copies of Win8.1 for 60 dollars or so. I wouldn't have paid 200 dollars for a copy, but 60 isn't too bad.

I understand the issue between Amd and Intel, and I've always recommended what I felt was best for each build or question. They both have their merits for different applications or budgets.
