I am trying to do an external boot on a computer I am building. I have the psu plugged in everywhere it needs to be and I am not getting any image from the monitor when I try to boot. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or help me find out what is wrong? Thank you for any answers or help in advance.

Solution
try with minimal components as the cpu, board, one stick of ram, gpu if no integrated, and obviously the heatsink, and only the 24pin and cpu power. If u get no display try using a gpu if u have one and still no display, most likely there is a bad or dead component. No display on the board graphics if u have will most likely mean dead igpu, and if gpu works the board should be fine, if both dont work the board may be bad.

I have only the motherboard, cpu, cpu fan, and gpu hooked up. I am still getting absolutely no sign of the monitor being hooked up to anything. The only thing that happens is a green light turns on on the motherboard.

AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (only one connected)
Diamond Radeon HD 7850 2GB Video Card
Raidmax 530W Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

Do u have another system, that u could test the psu? then the gpu with the psu tested working?

Raidmax does not max a great powersupply but may not be the issue. If u dont have another system to test with find a friend or someone who u can test stuff with.

Also did u use a different monitor/tv? attempt to use a different video port on the gpu, a different cable? For some reason my monitor with an hdmi does not like my ps4 connected when another hdmi cable is plugged into the monitor.

I don't have another system with me right now, going to have to wait until tomorrow to try a different system. Tried different monitor, different gpu slot, and different cable, still no difference.

Also the raidmax was in a combo on newegg at a really good price or I would have a different psu.
