When I go to advanced settings of monitor then it shows only 60Hz, but when I play Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag i see my resolution to be 800x600 85Hz.. Though the game runs properly on that resolution, all i want to know is this that whether 85hz refresh rate is okay for my system, because i don't get the option of 60Hz in the game settings.
My monitor is Compaq Presario 5500

Is the monitor a CRT ,tube type? If so then the refresh rate may very well be 85hz or better at that resolution. It was common for CRT's to have 85hz or better. Most likely the 60hz rating is with higher resolutions that was also common to have the hz rating to go down as the resolution went up.

To my knowledge, when it says 800x600 85Hz that just means the game will cap its frame rate at 85 frames per second. If your monitor has a refresh rate of 60, it will only display 60 frames per second. It won't force it to display more than it is capable of.

Also +1 for that retro screen. :p
