98% RAM usage in task manager without explanation

Basically, I play Call of Duty: Ghosts for various amounts of time 30 minutes or a couple hours and eventually the RAM usage goes apeshit. I idle with nothing open but Steam at about 18-19% RAM usage in the task manager. Running a game of Ghosts usually hold around 40% usage prior to going "apeshit" and climbing to 98% usage or higher. The latest time, I noticed that whatever hidden process was doing this was actually stealing the RAM away from everything so Ghosts ended up having between 10 and 50 megabytes of RAM so it slows to a crawl.

I've tried Googling this and not much luck. Found a bit about Windows search causing problems and disabled it and that didn't really help. Got Sysinternals' RAMMap as I saw recommendations about that but it's too late by the time this happens as I can't move anywhere.

The workaround for now is rebooting my computer which gets it under control but I'd like to be able to play Ghosts without having to stop and restart my whole machine. I feel bad saying it but I hope someone else has seen this (as frustrating as it is) so I can get things moving again.

Thanks to anyone who can help in advance! :)

EDIT: Managed to get ahead of it so the computer didn't come to a complete standstill and found it's the "non-paged pool" that's eating the RAM. No idea how to stop this. :(
