What Port To Use For SSD?

I'm a total novice when it comes to building pcs, and I have no idea what the difference is between a SATA or eSATA port. So which is faster? Which port should I use for an SSD?

Hi

I am not going to read the motherboard manual for you

esata by name shows it is for external SATA devices
(although this port is for data only (usually) and 2.5" drive will need 5 Volt power supply)

Some SATA ports are SATA 3 and some SATA 2 speed
(on older motherboard slowest port may be SATA 1 )

If SSD will be boot device connect to SATA 0 (or 1 if lowest number is 1)
if not boot device then a SATA 3 port

I'm not looking for someone to read the manual for me, just to correct me if my SSD should be in something other than a SATA 3.0 port. Sorry if it appeared that way, I'm not trying to take the lazy way out, I just haven't had much luck finding this information after a few google searches.

Sata 3 is faster than sata 2 is faster than sata 1

Esata does not indicate which version of sata standard port complies with

For ordinary hard drive sata 3 or 2 does not really

matter as standard is faster than hard drive can read or write to disk

Normally. With several disks lowest port number is default boot drive
