Why my CPU fan so loud?

Solution
Two things you could monitor:

1- CPU activity, it's normal that a CPU fan is loud if the CPU is working all the time. Check if you have a process taking all the resources it could be the problem.

2- Temperature, did you monitor your temps? If it's overheating of course the fan will compensate by running at 100% all the time to try to take the heat out.

It's possible you might have to reinstall it and re-apply thermal paste, but first verify the two things I mentioned.

P.S. HWMonitor is a good software to monitor your temps, you need to run it in administrator mode to get all readings:

Hey PlayerType, I think your CPU fan might not be functioning properly, or your temps are too high.

Could you please install HWmonitor and tell me your temperatures, and if you are overclocked (use CPU-Z to check)? Please give me both idle (no programs running) and with load (prime 95 small FFT, for about 5 minutes).

You can find the links here:

HW Monitor:

CPU-Z:

Prime 95:

Also, which heat sink are you using?

Thanks!
Dave

I downloaded HW Monitor and the cpu temp is 32 C which is extremly cool right now. I put my hand below the fan and lot of cool air come out of it. Two hours ago it was so hot(48 C) and i didnt even do anything. .When it was hot, alot of hot air come out. I dont know if it the fan or my computer. Here my rig:
FX-6300
GTX 770 OC ll
ASUS MSA97 R2.0
8 GB Ram
I build this pc couple days ago and it working fine. The fan was really quiet until i turn on the computer this morning. it got suddenly loud for no reason and lot heat come out of it. My cpu usage is like only 3%, it not running 100% so fan shouldnt run at full speed. The temp is like 32 C but the fan is still damn loud

PS: im a total noob when it come to pc.

If you built your own PC you might of forgot the Thermal Interface Material.
You can buy one on Amazon here.
You can see how to install it here.
(Order the one with 4 grams)
Your fan is probably fine you're just missing this one component.

Sorry for answering only after ~2 years, but it's important to ask you (and also anybody else who happens to face this very same issue): did you enable Q-fan and set the rpm profile to the lowest possible - "silent mode", or something like that - through BIOS? I bet that's why you guys are facing this noisy issue. ;)
