HI people. first of all, I am kinda new here.
I have a hard drive, its a 1tb samsung hd103sj. I have been using it for around 4-+ years and its working great. I took this hard drive from a pre built dell inspiron desktop and put it to my custom own built desktop. So I have been using that hdd in my custom made desktop for 3 years and around 2 days ago, something really unpredictable happened to it.
I was playing this particular game (dota 2) and for the first time, my game freeze, and I was not able to recover it, thus, I had to force restart my computer. As soon as it restarted, the typical bios screen pops up, however this time for almost 4x longer, and right after that black screen appears where it usually says "loading operating system" , and it seems that my bios cant recognize my hdd. Because of this, it then tried to boot my computer from a cd drive instead (an obvious clue that my hdd could not be recognized) and for an obvious reason, it did not work.
I tried to use my old laptop hdd and plugged that one instead, and it works. Using my old hdd, i tried to see if my hdd works as a secondary drive. I have a cm690 case where it has quick swappable hdd bay on the top where I can just insert hdd in, and the same thing happens, my computer could not recognize it.
So does this mean my samsung hdd is dead? How come it died on me in a very random way? And is there any way to fix this, or recover my data? Thank you. Sorry for a long post

Samsung drives have a serial diagnostic port which will report error messages that will help you narrow down the problem.

That said, I suspect that your drive may have head or media problems.
