What's your OS Windows 7 X86 OR X64?

Also from what I can remember the activation of Windows is hardware specific, meaning that you may have to activate it again if changing hardware.

dont know about the message that your getting, bbut i know i just recently tried to change a hdd from one computer to the other and it didnt work without reinstalling windows. Now it might still be possible that you can cause i had 2 older computers that i was able to switch the hdd's back and forth. But on another note, if the hdd you are trying to switch ocer has a oem version of windows (came with the computer with os already installed) You cant change them cause the windows is bound to the mobo. But it sounds like you will need to reinstall windows

You need to reinstall Windows because the old MB driver set is part of the existing installation. Incompatable with your new PC, thus the startup problems. The old istallation is looking for hardware that does not exist on the new system. And as stated, and OEM version is a one use only install, tied to the old motherboard, You will need a new license for the new PC. Contact Microsoft.
