Awful Sound Stuttering in Certain Games

Hello all,

I've encountered one terribly nasty bug in my hardware setup, but I'm unsure of what is causing it. Simply put, in certain games such as Sonic Generations or TERA: Rising, i will occasionally get an awful sound stutter(with the rest of the game staying at full speed) that lasts about ten seconds, and goes back to normal. The problem with this however, is that the interval between sound stutters steadily decreases. Meaning I'll go straight from exiting a sound stutter into another one about two seconds after.

I've taken plenty of measures to try and fix this, such as getting a new sound card, which has not helped at all. My specs are listed below:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670k @ 3.4GHz
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 w/ACX Cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 2x4GB
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
Sound Card(s): 1. Onboard SupremeFX Sound Chip
2. Asus Xonar DSX 7.1
HDD: Seagate 7200RPM, 2TB

Thank you in advance for all your help

On an unrelated note however, my microphone has been reported by others to frequently cut out and distort my voice, whereas with my past build such things never happened. Could this also be related to my current issue?

Well, that wouldn't work for me. The Xonar DSX fits into the smaller PCIe slots and not the full lanes, of which all three are the exact same. Along with this, I'm sure the sound card isn't the issue anymore since this problem has been affecting me on two different cards.

I would try that but I honestly think it would have no effect since the same exact issue is happening with my onboard sound chip.

So I ended up fixing this issue by disabling the Intel XHCI Driver in the BIOS, but it has left me unable to use USB 3.0. A workaround for this would be appreciated.
