Why does my laptop keep crashing?

I have a windows 7 netbook and it keeps crashing randomly, it has happened at least 8 times in the last 2 days. When I watch videos sometimes it'll just freeze up and I can't even move the mouse and it replays a split second of audio over and over. It happens when I update too. I don't think it's an overheating problem, would it be a software problem? I'm using it for the first time in about 2 months. I have about 68 important updates waiting for me. Could it be a hardware problem? I took it apart about a month ago and cleaned it out and haven't used it since, could it be that I didn't put it back together right? Thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

Open Event Viewer from control panel after your computer crashes and see if you can find any errors.
  2. I have 3 system errors in the critical category, "EventLog", "Service Control Manager" and another "Service Control Manager". "EventLog" seems to be the error that happens when my computer crashes.
  3. I found it, I believe my psu is the problem. Thank you.
  4. As an update the issue was overheating, it was reaching 50C+ I have since been keeping it cool and there hasn't been a problem.
