Hello everyone, I am in the process of buying a graphics card for my new rig. I have set myself on buying a R9 280X but have been reading a lot of articles about the card (The ASUS DirectCU II version in particular) and have been greatly discouraged to buying it due to problems such as artifacts/black screens etc. I cant seem to find out whether these problems are caused by faulty hardware, drivers or just the games themselves (namely Battlefield 4).

I would really like to know what your opinion is so I can get a better idea about what I might be getting myself into if I happen to buy this card. Thanks.

The people complaining on forums about this card do not know how to get their graphic card drivers. This card is highly reliant on updates (I have it). So if you get your drivers and keep em' up to date, you should be fine ;D

i dont think new drivers can fix this...
Its got to be a mechanical problem.
So send it back... and get an 770

Hey, I have MSI version of the card with the same issue and was able to resolve it. My Fix might work for you. Inside the GPU box I found a scrap of paper that showed a small physical switch on the the bottom of the card that toggles between "hybrid" bios and Legacy bios. The hybrid bios, which is on by default for some reason, is supposed to help improve wake times from hibernation and reboot. I found my switch on the underside near the very front (closes to the display ports) and toggled it to Legacy. That solved all of my artifact and frame rate issues.
