Hello I have a Buffalo mini station 2tb external I cant format it or initialise it but it shows up in storage management. http://postimg.org/image/8abzayra1/

I get an error when trying to intialise

I have googled it but found no success. I tried the buffalo format tool and it claimed it had formatted it but has not.

Any help would be appreciated.

it sounds like the drive inside is having issues if you cant format it from disk management. If its under warranty then return it. If its out of warranty you can try removing the drive from the enclosure and installing it directly into your pc and see if you can access the drive from there.

I had worried that was the problem, its a friends drive and seems to tick upon spooling the drive. is that a sign the arm has gone inside, There is no backup of this work, they always learn the hard way. I had a similar ticking issue with an external and removed the surge protection chip and the drive runs now. I dont use it but it ran long enough to remove the data. I can see the drive in management and the data size but cant do anything with it.
