WAIT!

For my FIRST boot of the machine in which I will boot for the FIRST time ever, just to make sure the MOBO and other components are working, will it be safe to boot without installing my cooler?

The reason I'm asking is because, in case a component is broken, I don't want to have screwed up the pre-applied thermal paste on my H80i...

Thanks guys!

Oh no, it will DEFINITELY damage your CPU bro. You can use the stock cooler if you don't want to use the pre-applied thermal paste on your h80i (that's a good point for you). :) Booting into bios, your CPU will be at full load. Give it about 2mins because you'll setup everything, like time, xmp, etc. So the CPU will be burnt.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh damn, I just learned something new again today. haha Thanks for the info. Damn it, a $500 CPU and not even a stock cooler! hahaha F**Ckers want you to spend about $600 for the whole package. I never new this because I can't spend this much money for a CPU damn it. haha Won't even research about the X version of Intel. I actually don't know the diff between those.

Hey,

I would highly suggest against turning on your PC without a cooler. You could very well damage your CPU, its better to have to spend $10 reapplying new thermal paste than have to spend more for a $500 CPU. I would not take the risk.

Hope this helps!

Applying thermal paste is really simple, just look up a few videos on the process if you need some help.

If you discover that there is a faulty CPU (unlikely) or motherboard (unlikely, but more likely than the CPU) and need to remove the cooler, after removing the H80i, clean both the top CPU surface and H80i's surface and remove the thermal paste, preferably with Isopropyl alcohol (100%) and then reapply the paste - but remember, not too much!
