Motherboard sparked, but works fine now

I bought an ASUS motherboard, got everything hooked up and it posted (yay, first build success!) when I had to plug the fans for my case in, I plugged a molex cable into the PSU and then a molex to 3 pin connector to a fan header on the motherboard. When I pressed on, it sparked. Loud popping noise. I brought it into a computer diagnostic place, and they said there was no visible damage, the thing is booting properly and everything looks good. Should I be concerned about the future use of it? Should I just get a new motherboard?

Keep using it and think before you connect things.

A 3 pin fan header powers a fan with variable voltages to change the speeds (mobo controls the speed). A molex to 3 pin powers a fan with a fixed voltage (no control over speed). Never connect the two cables that provide power. Also the connectors look the same, usually a sign that they do not go together.

Take this one as a lucky lesson, and thank Asus for a decent mobo.

There isn't any damage to the mobo, and the computer repair center had replied that they have all the fans connected, and it's booting properly. How would I go about replacing it? If I tried to RMA it, what would my reason for returning it be? I happened to get the last z87 pro v edition on newegg, so I don't think I'd get a new mobo from them. If it's working, should I just see how it does for a certain time period?

I think I'm going to stick with the mobo, if it works, it works. I'm going to be doing gaming mostly on it, (gtx 660, not too drastic in terms of graphics) and music production. If it fails, I'll just get a similar mobo. How does that sound for a plan?
