I need some help, ive been monitoring my cpu lately and while gaming in modern games such as bf4 or assassins creed iv it's been running at anywhere from 120 to 200 c. I've used multiple programs and they all say the same temp. How is this possible? and how can i prevent this. Could someone please reccomend a good cheap cpu cooler smaller then the hyper 212 because I don't believe that will fit in my case.

SPECS:
cpu= fx-6100
motherboard= msi 760gm ps3 (FX)
gpu= 7770 ghz edition
psu= corsair builder series bronze certified 600 watt
case= Ultra XBlaster Mid-Tower V2 Case

Solution
Sounds more like you have a faulty temperature sensor on the motherboard. There is no way an FX6100 would get anywhere near that hot without triggering thermal protection shutdowns/melting the CPU socket.

Is there anyway to fix the faulty sensor? I'm guessing i will most likely have to get a new mobo.
