Hello everyone.
This is my first high end gaming monitor (Benq xl2420te), and I did my research and I heard this was one of the top gaming high refresh-rate monitor. I knew at the time the colors were going to be bad, but not THIS bad. Otherwise I probably would've spent my 296$ on something more color accurate (ips). Every video I watch has different shades of the SAME color. As in boxes of different shades of the same color. Its been bugging me so bad. When I watched the PC perspective video I felt like ripping my hair off when I saw the boxes of different shades of blue on his wall shift shades extremely fast. Here is some pictures and videos I took with my nexus 4, so the picture is not as bad as it seems, it seems worse through my eyes, around 3 times as bad.

(sorry if the links are bad, first time using dropbox.)

Oh, and would this monitor be a better option?:

(On a side note, I'm coming from a VERY old LG flatron I bought when Circuit City was around. Its 19 or 17 inches, and even the colors, that have not been calibrated for years, are better than this monitor.)

Thanks.

The pictures you showed have colored boxes all over his screen. Since the images appear that way on my screen, they are definitely made up of boxes on his screen. That is what the images are. This is not due to color shift. It is just what is in those pictures and video.

Does it look different on your older monitor?

I am using DVI. It happens to all videos. Also just tried the other monitor. Its not there, well barely visible, compared to the benq which freaks out with a hundred boxes on the wall. but this monitor is 1400x900, but i was playing 1080p video.

around 3:10 you see him talking and the background wall has so many different color boxes. This happens everywhere, Netflix, youtube, to videogames, even movies. I try to deal with it, but if nothing helps, ill return for a new one or an ips monitor.

After resetting to stock settings, the wall changed to a grayish/bluish type of color. but the random boxes appear everywhere. I also played with refresh rate, color settings, resolution, EVERYTHING. ICC profiles i tried before, didn't help at all. I wouldve blamed the graphics card, but it isn't. I will try this monitor with an old computer and report back with my new info.

I turned on my old PC and hit the same video. The boxes were reduced to about 60%. I'm almost positive its my graphics card, i will be getting the non-reference r9 290's once they come out drop down to 400$ again. And if that doesn't help, I will be very pissed off. Thanks guys.

Turning Hardware Acceleration doesn't do anything. And I have tested this on 4 devices with the benq monitor, and the pcperspective video, and other videos/games are still bad. I tried: My old PC(I realized that it wasn't producing HD images until after my post saying that it is fixed), my xbox, my laptop, and my friends laptop. Also watching videos from other video players make the boxes smaller, but they are still everywhere. Maybe cause i was playing 720p HD. It seems like there are only 256 colors on my monitor.

I can say that when I switched from my older monitor to my current one, I started noticing a lot more colors than before. I thought things were wrong, but it turns out that the poor color production of my old monitor disguised a lot of color that was supposed to be there, but was not. Your old monitor may disguise some of those color variations, and seeing all the colors that was supposed to be displayed, may show you things you couldn't before.

What was your old display? What model? Just because you see clear distinct color differences, does not mean there is something wrong. It may be that there is something right.

Maybe you are missing a setting. Without seeing it in person, it is hard for me to know.

My old display was an LG Flatron W1952TQ
You may be right, But I tried a lot of things/displays. From laptops, tablets, phones, and my Plasma and IPS TV's, the boxes are not there besides my monitor. And i'm not missing a setting because i tried resetting to stock and tweaking. I took another video, sorry for the quality. And I'm positive colors are not to be seen in box forms. Has anyone experienced these boxes all over videos? Oh, the boxes seem way more bolder through my eyes than through this video.

and I have to decide soon whether to keep this monitor, RMA it, or just get the Dell U2713HM or U2412M. It's almost been a month.
