I have a gigabyte ga-z87x-ud4h board with Intel i5-4670k that will not boot even to the bios. It get stuck at 'pre memory north-bridge initialization is started' according to a debug led. But it is a Haswell chip set. Any help is appreciated. I am waiting on Gigabyte also.

Try taking the board outside the case, reseating the CPU and checking the socket for bent pins.
If OK, then reinstall the stock CPU fan, insert single RAM module and start the board (still outside the case).

Without memory the system does not POST.
Try connecting an internal case speaker to the motherboard (for beeps).

Now insert single RAM module (motherboard still outside the case), monitor connected to the onboard DVI or VGA port, keyboard, mouse and start the board.

Same result. Constant beep. Without keyboard, mouse, and video and even ram I get the constant beep. From what I read it is a power problem.

My power supply is good since I was using it yesterday and is 650w. I pulled the battery with now power connect and it cmos clear.

Is it time to return the second board?

With no cpu nothing works and it does not beep.
