Erratic Frame Rate Issues

I have a Radeon HD 7850 2GB. I have some small issues with other games, but the biggest offender is Diablo 3. At its worst, my FPS will hit 5 even with nothing heavy on the screen. At best, I get too much stuttering and microstuttering to be considered normal.

Weird thing is, alt-tabbing and re-opening seems to sort of "reset" my FPS, until it eventually drops again. I notice the it happens the most upon entering a new area. i.e. I open Diablo, rush into an area, and my FPS just hits the floor.

I don't see a way to post my DxDiag or MSInfo (Blizzard customer support wanted to see this), but if anyone wants more info I would be more than happy to give you whatever info you need to make a creative guess. I am sick of this...

Yeah you might have driver issues.

Perform clean uninstall using DriverSweeper

And then reinstall drivers from AMD's official website.

Then try again.

I have done a clean reinstall of drivers 3 times now. Even down to deleting old hidden AMD files, cleaning up registries, everything.

Should I do it again?

Using Driver Sweeper ?
It's no good uninstalling and installing by self.

If you've done all that, you might want to re install drivers that are a bit older than the newer ones.

You can find most old drivers at filehippo

I used the AMD Catalyst uninstaller then I manually did the rest using a nice tutorial.

How far back should I go with the drivers?

You can try 2-3 versions back and take it from there...

Till you find some that don't stick.

Then keep to them for a while.

All of their drivers are for Vista or XP. I found a page for it on AMD's website but it was all Linux... I'm using Windows 7. I can't find the disc that came with my GPU.

Try it.

It might be the best solution for you, and games might not lag anymore.

Also if you cant try softpedia for some older drivers.
