Hello, I will try to describe my problem and the steps I have taken to try and resolve it the best I can. I cannot understand what is going wrong.

Let's start with the specs.

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8150 Zambezi 3.6GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 1866mhz
PSU: Thermaltake TR2 TR-600 600W ATX12V v2.3
GPU : Radeon HD7850

Alright so here's what's happening.

My computer crashes when playing power-hungry games. There is no blue-screen, no text, nothing is showing, nada. The front fan (the one that cools the HDD's), however, keeps on working normally and the blue led is still on.

At this point, pressing the power button does absolutely nothing. Holding it to try and shut down the computer (well at this point the computer already crashed, but for trying to turn off the fan..) does absolutely nothing. Pressing it to try to boot up does absolutely nothing either. The only solution is to reset the power supply at the back, wait about 5seconds until the power is completely gone, and turn it back up. At this point, I can boot normally using the power button.

Things I have tried:

-Replacing the power outlet
-Plugging the PSU directly on the new power outlet (no powerbar involved)
-Manually verifying PSU voltages with a multimeter (all the pins are providing the correct 12v,5v and 3v)
-Removing dust from the computer
-Checking for bulged condensors
-Re-seating the pieces and checking for loose connections

The odd thing here is that this only happens when using 3D intensive applications such as games. The videocard seems ok and is properly seated. Why does the power supply need to be reset? Is it a protection, is it a failure? I am completely out of ideas to try.

Other interesting thing to note: my girlfriend's computer is literally next to mine, on the same outlet, and started doing the same thing a little before my computer did (crashes, have to reset PSU). At this point I thought I had a surge or overcurrent, but my idea of it would be that the PSU would be dead. Yet it still works, and something crashes everytime I do something power-hungry.

I do not have another PSU or videocard to test with currently sadly, and I do not wish to buy a new one blindly to hope to resolve the issue.

I would appreciate any input or ideas concerning this matter, do not hesitate to ask for more informations.

Thanks a lot.

Solution
the temps are acceptable....update your bios and see if it works.

it is very likely that your psu is failing, if you could just arrange for another one, it would have given you a better idea.

The temperature for the GPU stands at around 50c - 60 when gaming (which I deem very acceptable)
The temperature for the CPU stands at around 30c - 40c under the same circumstances.

This would indeed be the best, for now I'm looking on opinions or things to try to better isolate the problem before buying anything.
