Hello all, apologies in advance for rookie mistakes because this is my first time asking a question about hardware on a forum.

Within the last 2 weeks or so my computer has randomly black screened and forced a reset (was only happening during game play)
It was VERY random, sometimes I could go for hours and hours without it happening.
so initially I figured it was the driver, and switched from the Catalyst 13.9 to the 13.1 (was said most optimal for the game I play). It seemed to fix it temporarily, but somehow the driver went to a 13.4 and it started at it again. I figured since it didn't run confirmation with me or anything that it installed over the 13.1 and the registry was tweaked so I uninstalled Catalyst all together, rebooted, and then the problem started without even running a game.
I eventually got a driver back on and its been behaving, (back to the 13.1 driver). Also when I re-downloaded the driver from AMD it put AMD Gaming Evolved on here which I've never seen.

Im rambling, heres my specs..

Mobo: ASUS|M5A97 970 AM3+
PCU: FX-4100 3.6GHz
GPU: Asus EAH6850 HD
PSU: CORSAIR|500W)
RAM: 8GB DDR 1600GHz

I;ve also noted it could be the power supply, but kind of eliminated it because im running nowhere near 500W and neither my GPU(highest seen 68C) nor PCU(highest seen 59C) are over heating,

it's possible that the driver autoupdated after you installed 13.1. do a clean install of 13.1 and disable auto update. 68C max for the gpu is a bit on the high side but nothing dangerous to cause a restart.

try cleaning the fans a bit and check that they are all working...

I wiped the registry completely when I got rid of 13.4. when the problem started I did a hard clean on everything to no prevail.
from what I've read a power supply wouldn't black screen restart either. Seems I'm the only person with this exact issue.
