I Googled for some benchmark site that can determine if my PC was good enough for Editing and 3D Animation, as i have very recently upgraded it (and am done for next 2 years).

So finding out that there was no such 'specific' site for determining the true Benchmark of my configuration, so now, i want to know opinion of some people who have some experience in this sort of builds to tell me if this is a good enough build and if not what could I've possibly done to make it better.

Thank you.

Configuration:

Intel i7 4770 3.4 Ghz

Gigabyte H81M-S1

Cosair 16 GB DDR3 (1333 Mhz)

MSI NVIDIA N660-2GD5/OC

1 TB WD Blue+2 TB Seagate Green+3 TB Seagate Black

HDD Seasonic ECO 600 Watts

P.S. I already have assembled the system.

Faster Ram. 1600mhz should really be the standard, and 1866 or 2133 depending on pricing. The faster Ram would have really made a difference for larger projects, as long as the CAS latency didn't jump up too much. You could usually find 1866mhz, CAS 9 16gb's for a good price though.

Assuming the rig in question is in your sig?

Looks fine as a video editing rig to me, a mainstream i7, 16GB of RAM and a couple of HDD's (to distribute disk load, have your project files, raw footage and render output separated) is about what you would expect of a hobbyist/semi-professional set up. Unless your really going nuts in After Effects, that rig should perform fine.

I use Adobe Suite and 3Ds Max, also i particularly upgraded my PC for better compatibility with a After Effect plug in Element 3D. I work over 15 hours a day, and currently i am working on a short film, that's why i need 3 HDD's, one for work, second for storage and third for back up and storing final output.

I did some research on this subject and all i could find was newer Intel CPU require faster RAM for iGPU. Otherwise, there is absolutely no significant improvement in performance of the system otherwise.

Well, true about significant improvement for most applications, but the point is that generally you can at least find a 1866mhz set for the same price. Sometimes even 2133, but always 1600mhz for the same price as 1333. So there wouldn't be a point to buying 1333mhz ram.

Yeah, but i upgraded from an older PC, and i already had one 1333 Mhz Ram, so i just went for another one of those, beside where i live the price difference is more than 16 dollars, so it made more sense. Beside, there is barely enough space left for any non-heatsink based RAMs, 1600 one's sold here are all heat-sink version, so they were never really an option for me.

Maybe, in the near future i may upgrade to 1866 version, my board supports it actually. Thanks for your advice.

I will at some point will upgrade to a 32 GB configuration, which then will require a new board, as mine only holds two RAM slots, so i might opt for some board that has enough space for both my EVO cooler and RAMs.

Why do the make these sockets so close together anyway!

I will, at some point in the future, i am starting my research a little early, that's all. I have built the system, but now i have no reference how it stands in comparison with most pro-consumer-professional built. I may not do any upgrade for next 6 months at least, or will upgrade to higher end card and more RAM tomorrow, i have no idea right now.

I originally wanted to buy H77 board with i7 3770 but the shop didn't had one at the moment, so i instead went for i7 4770, hence going over budget, therefore, going for cheaper board.

By the way, do you guys know which of these board is better - Asus or Gigabyte? I previously had Asus, and it was the most awesome, cool and quietest things i ever had. But my current Gigabyte seems to control my CM fan speed in ways, i don't like. It just starts at normal speed and the fan-light flickers and then it goes off, and then kicks off again, it doesn't sounds OK.
