How to establish a connection far from PC?

Hello.

I have a PC desktop setup in my bedroom, while my home family desktop is set up rooms away. The family desktop connects to the internet via modem/coaxial tv cables, and it also has a router near it. No chance of me connecting any wires to that directly (My PC is currently receiving a wireless connection from that far away router). There is one cable wall jack in my room (although it is slightly far from my setup).

What are my options for connecting to the internet?

I am currently using a PCI-E card, but I am not too satisfied with the performance. Is there a virtually lossless wireless connection I could establish (buy a personal wireless router to make the connection closer)? Or is the only way to get very fast speeds a cabled connection. If so, will I need equipment other than a modem, cable, and ethernet cable?

Solution
Your problem is a weak signal from the main router. Another router next to your PC would see that same weak signal.
What you need is an Access Point or repeater, midway between you and the existing router.

Another modem? No. The ISP serves up only one IP address, to the first modem it sees.

A fully wired solution is best, but if you can't, then an Access Point will probably work.

If the wall jack is a coax tv connection you might be able to use MoCA type network devices. These run ethernet over the tv coax. There are limitations if you have things like whole house dvr and such. You could also try powerline networking devices. These in general work pretty well but there are houses they don't work in so make sure you look at the return policy.

Thanks for the insight! If I went with the "fully wired" setup, what would that look like, and what wires/components would it require?
