im getting the amd fx 8320

if i will be using this motherboard would i need a bios update?

It will need BIOS version F9 installed to work with that CPU.

I would get a sempron to flash the BIOS if it doesn't come with F9 or higher installed.

yes you'll need to update the bios before installing FX-8320 in your motherboard.
if you're already using this motherboard with any CPU then you can update the bios by using your current cpu and if you've not yet bought the motherboard and processor then you should buy Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 rev 4.0.
this motherboard will support any CPU without updating BIOS
