I have got a new desktop and I wanted to get dayz but I wasn't sure if my computer will be able to run it. I have already decided that I am going to get a new GPU. I found this but I dont know if this will be enough.

My computer Specs are:
AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 270 Processor ( Speed: 3.4GHz)
ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics
3.6GB Ram
Windows 7

At the moment I have tried playing Skyrim and it doesnt run very well on low settings. Do you have any recommendations for a new gaming GPU that is quite cheap.( I'm not a hardcore PC gamer)

What exactly is the card make/model curently in your system. "3000" describes a generation of cards, not a specific model. Also, do you mean "HD" series?

the 630 is a fairly weak card, if you have an upper end HD 3k (HD 3850, 3870) card, it is equivalent or better than the 630.

No that card is even worse than the 630. You need spend about 50-60 pounds to get the performance you want.

I'm getting most of my information from this website.http://systemrequirementslab.com/cyri and it said that I my GPU did not meet the minimum requirements for dayz or skyrim and my friends computer, who has the ATI Radeon HD 5450, met the requirements.

Well all I can tell you is that I've put about 40 hours in on Skyrim, and if you want it to run decent, you need the best possible GPU you can afford. Now unfortunately your CPU is slow and only dual core, and your PSU more than likely is not rated to run any card that needs more than the 75w supplied by the motherboard. So your best option is the 7750 or 6670.

If you just want to barely get by on lowest possible settings, then sure, get the 5450 or 630. What I'm saying is the performance is not impressive.

If all you want to do is meet the minimum requirements for those two games as cheaply as possible, then the 5450 is a good choice.

Skyrim and DayZ have relatively low graphics requirements, though. The 5450 won't be able to play much else in the way of modern games.

Will just upgrading my GPU to the 6670 be enough? Or will I need to upgrade my CPU as well?

I'm not really a PC gamer but I really want to play Dayz. So for the moment I'm happy with the cheapest option that will run that game and be playable.

Get the HD 6670, it's the cheapest and most decent card you can get. And you will get to run skyrim at med/high settings on 1080p and ultra at 720p. Even DayZ will be playable. Believe me, if you pick anything weaker than HD 6670 you will regret it later. (Got myself a HD 6670 with having a lot worse CPU, and I enjoy Skyrim at nearly Ultra on 1650x1080 at around 25-60fps :))
And just the HD 6670 will be enough to run them. Maybe later when you decide to go more into gaming, you can pick up a new Motherboard, CPU and PSU.
Though you should definitely consider HD 7750, too. It doesn't cost much more than HD 6670, but will give you even greater and very noticeable performance increase.

Yeah I think I will get either the 6670 or the 7750. It sounds like a good buy :) thanks
