exfat External hard drive. Used space is 14GB but reported Used Space 56GB

Hi guys,

I have an external hard drive that I have formatted with exFAT with 128kb allocation unit size.

The contents of the hard drive is about 14GB but it is reported as 51GB (size on disk).

What is going on here???
Does this have to do with exFAT?

Most likely its the large allocation size, yes.
Any file you write to the drive will take up a minumum of 128kb. Large files get broken into 128kb chunks and the last chunk, again, will use up 128kn even if its 1 byte.
