Currently have a Biostar TZ77B (v5.0) motherboard running the latest beta bios (Z77DF823) with a Radeon 7850 that works perfectly; however, when I remove my old Radeon 7850 and plug in my brand new Radeon R9-270x, the computer will not boot and I get a bios error code 97. The fans come on and everything seems to work other than the computer posting.

I have both 6-pin power connecters plugged in on the R9-270x. I tried moving the R9-270x to another PC and it works perfectly in another PC, just not on my Biostar Motherboard. Been struggling for days. Can anyone please help??

Hi - what is the brand/model of the PSU? Also, have you tried it with the bios rolled back to the latest pre beta version?

Hi again - which CM 750, they have 1 or 2 good ones, and some not too good. Even one of their 'not so good' 750's should be more than enough for a 270x. Also, did you completely uninstall the AMD drivers & reinstall after the new GPU?

I just tried rolling back my bios to the latest non-beta (Z77DF419) bios, and I get the same result.. computer turns on, fans turn on, but no boot/post, just a black screen and the motherboard LED reads code 97.

The cooler master PSU that I have is an RS-750-ACAA-A1 750W PSU.

I did uninstall & reinstall the drivers before installing the 270x; however, with the 270x plugged in, I can't even get the computer to POST. Just a black screen, no way to get into the BIOS or anything. I have to plug my 7850 back in to make any changes to the bios/os, and then switch it out for the 270x.

Looks like the PSU, but that PSU is not that bad and has way more than enough +12v amps.
However, the card works in another PC, so it appears the PSU is failing.

You think its the PSU? Do I need a 1000w PSU? The fans on my CPU and Gfx card come on when I power up... just the computer will not POST.

Sure. I'll try that and report back.. My other rig has a 500w PSU.

Okay, so I took the Antec 500w power supply out of my other rig (the other rig where my R9-270x is working), and hooked the 500w PSU up to my main rig with the Biostar TZ77B Motherboard. I hooked up my R9-270X, and... same result as my 750w supply... black screen, no video, no post, but all the fans are spinning when the power comes on and I see a bios code of 97 on the motherboard.

So it seems the PSU is not the issue here, as my R9-270x works fine in my other rig with the 500w supply. Any other suggestions?
