Hello and merry Christmas.

In the last 24 hours I’ve not been able to connect to my wireless network. This is beginning to drive me nuts.

We are running with a Linksys WRT54G and it worked just fine for two days ago. While downloading a file online the net just went off and has been since yesterday.

I tried to reset my router and go back online, but it is not that simple I guess. I can easily see the network, but when trying to connect to it, it fails. I tried to place the net cable directly to my laptop and that works just fine, but the wireless won’t work. I guess it can be some kind of a virus or something…

Any ideas what to do? :??:

A virus would not be at the top of my list, but run your antivirus just to be complete.

I would get the free home version of the wifi analyzer inSSIDer from HERE and run it on a laptop and look under the network tab to see what channel and strength are indicated and if you have any interfering channels.

Then I would do another reset on your router, attach to it with a cable and reset its wireless settings, security, radio channel, SSID, the works. Then on each Windows machine you will need to go into the the network control panel, manage wireless networks, and delete your network, then restart and let the computer re-discover the signal, type in your newly created passkey and check the auto connect box. If it works on one it should work on all of your machines.

And Merry Christmas to you! :D

Unfortunately, nothing worked, so I chose to buy a new router, because the old had become old. Everything works perfectly now. Thanks for your help and again merry christmas :)
